Firefighter Birthday Party!

Ok, we continue to be behind the times with our posting. Let's catch up a little... On "Super Bowl" Sunday we went to a birthday party for Daddy's friend's nephew. It was a firefighter birthday party!

We got to go to a fire station with a lot of really nice firefighters. One of them even went to Daddy's high school...

Then it was time for fighting fires!

After the fire station, we went back to my friend's house for cake.

We're going to the fire in our fire truck. It is a very wide front seat.


Aki was pleased.

All in all, it was a wonderful party. And I didn't miss any of the Super Bowl either! Thanks firefighters from Moanalua!

Carnival!

A little while ago we went to something called a carnival at Uncle JT's old school. Owen was really excited about it and said that he wanted to go to that school when he grows up. Daddy didn't like that idea so much, but Owen thought that was funny so of course he wouldn't change his mind.

Anyway, so here's what Owen looked like when we got to the carnival.


He slept through the whole thing!


It's ok. I got to go on all the rides. That is, I went on this one and I didn't like it so this is the only ride we went on.

After all my hard work, this is what I got! Where are that yellow ball and the pink frog now anyway? Owen just woke up in this picture, so he's not seeing what he's going to look like in 10 years off to the side there...


We got to eat Hawaiian food and watch the teachers' band. Owen really enjoyed that one. I liked it too because I got to dance with daddy.

I had a lot of fun at the carnival. But we have to work on this "Punahou" thing of Owen's...

Hanging around the House

Now that mommy and daddy both have "jobs", we've been spending more of our weekends at home, hanging out.

Here's one new thing we've been doing at home. Aki and I have tea parties.

Home time is fun! We do still go out though. Next time I'll write about some going out things we've been doing.

MLK Day

Wow, we're really behind the times now! We haven't blogged about anything since my birthday party early this month. Don't worry that you're missing too much though. Since mommy and daddy started work, we haven't been doing as much. We like to have "stay at home" day or at least, "stay in Hawai'i Kai (our little part of town)" day. It works out fine for me since I get to play with all the toys I don't really have time to play with during the week.

Then again, sometimes we do still go out. For Martin Luther King Day we went to drive around the island. That's how daddy celebrated the first MLK Day back when he was a kid, so we figured we would reenact it.

First stop was my favorite pineapple plantation ghost town... Dole!

And they're really hungry. The fish were climbing all over themselves to get our food!

After the train ride, we didn't stop for the pineapple ice cream. We went straight to Haleiwa for walking around and lunch. Since it was kind of early for lunch, we had dessert.

I liked it too. I really did. But I agree with Uncle JT and daddy. Waiola's is finer.

Zoo Birthday Party

I had my birthday party at the zoo this year!


We made masks of animals. Here's my favorite.


And Aki's favorite. Looks kind of familiar...


Like Barack Obama, we got to take a special tour of the zoo. Only there were a lot more people around for us...


We got to feed the fishies. They were really hungry.


Then it was time for lunch. And cake!

Yay for my birthday!

I Turned 4 Today!

My Birthday, 4 years ago.

When I turned one.

When I turned two.

When I turned three.

At preschool today, we did a special sun ceremony to commemorate my birthday.

I got to hold a globe and walk around the candle (that symbolizes the sun) four times. This activity helped me understand what one year meant... one year is the amount of time it takes the earth to go around the sun one time. Then everyone sang the birthday song to me in English and Hawaiian! And I got birthday hugs from the aunties and my classmates. The day got even better after nap since it was my first day at Papa Mele - an afternoon music class at my school. At today's class, we learned a fun song called, "Day-o". After daddy picked me up from school, we headed out to dinner at one of my favorite places, Maile's Thai Bistro. I LOVE mee krob!

When we got home, I blew out the candle on my Transformer cake! Aki was so excited to help.

Best of all, mommy and daddy got me my very own acoustic guitar! It's taller than Aki.
