New shoes!

Over the last few weeks since I started walking, we've been trying to find shoes that will fit my feet. We went to all kinds of shoe stores, but nothing fits properly since I have something called a "high instep". Mommy found a company that makes baby shoes like Robeez that are flexible while offer protection for my little funny feet.

My new shoes finally came in the mail the other day, and I LOVE them! As soon as mommy put them on, I took off walking around the house. I didn't want to take them off, even after 3 hours of wearing them. Mommy likes them too since the shoes are machine washable!

Not so lazy Sunday

Since the weather was so nice this weekend, we went for a walk in the woods near our house. I liked seeing the birds and the squirrels and the back of daddy's head.

After our walk, Ronak and Aunty Sarita came over. We had brunch and Aunty Sarita read us books.

Signing with Daddy

Mommy and Daddy have been trying to teach me Baby Signs for awhile. Starting a few weeks ago, I've been using the signs to communicate with them. I also know where my head and my nose are. Here's a video of me and Daddy practicing some signs.

Playdate at the Museum of Science

On Thursday, mommy and I decided to take Emerson and her mommy to the Museum of Science since I had so much fun there the last time. Emerson loved it too. We spent hours there. Most of the time we were in the Discovery Center. It wasn't as crowded this time, so we got to play with lots of different things like these magnetic sticks and balls.

We had so much fun, I passed out on the car ride home. When we got home, Daddy told me I got a package from my grandparents in Hawaii. They sent me a train set! So I helped Daddy put together the train tracks.

To top off a wonderful day, Mommy and Daddy took to me to Aunty Sarita and Uncle Sameer's house for dinner. I got to teach baby Ronak how to walk! I had such a fun day!

Mommy Haircut and a Lesson

This week I had a new experience. After dinner, mommy took off my booster seat's tray, put on my biggest bib, and came at me with a pair of scissors! For some reason daddy was playing with bubbles right in front of my face instead of protecting my hairs. Mommy kept telling me to watch the bubbles, but I wanted to see the scissors.

So eventually after a while, they turned my chair around to face the big black box in the corner of the room. Then the box came to life and there were moving pictures on it! It was beyond amazing! I sat and watched and watched and watched. I forgot all about the scissors! But after the black box went back to sleep, I felt my head and all my beautiful hair was gone! Mommy had cut it while I was engrossed with the box!

So... a lesson for babies everywhere, beware the beautiful pictures on the black box if you want to keep your hair the way you like it, long and shaggy. Or at least pay attention to the snip snip around your head while you're watching.

Here's a picture of me a couple days before my haircut modeling one of my new haute couture bibs that mommy sewed for me out of a dish towel. Do you like? Very nice!

It's maple syrup time!

A couple weekends ago we went back to Drumlin Farm for pancakes, maple syrup, and baby animals. We ate the pancakes and syrup, and we looked at the babies.

After breakfast we went outside in the icy snow. The first place we stopped was to look at some lambs and baby goats that had been born just that week.

After seeing the lambs and goats, we saw some baby cows, but they weren't so cute, so I haven't posted any pictures of them.

Then we went to see how maple syrup gets made. The syrup maker showed us how they have to boil and boil it off so that it thickens up. It takes 40 gallons of sap to make 1 gallon of syrup!

Later that day we went to Aunty Karna's for breakfast #2. I was still full from breakfast #1 but I liked walking around her place. Look at what I found!

Taking my first steps

A quick blog to show everyone that I can walk on my own now. I'm free! I'm still a little unstable on my feet, but as soon as I get more practice... no more being tied down to Mommy and Daddy.

Budding artist

Mommy took me to IKEA today by herself since Daddy had to work all day. She told me that we needed to get some new furniture. When we got there, Mommy took me to the kids' furniture section, and we tried some tables and chairs out. We ended up getting the MAMMUT round table and two chairs. We also got a few more plastic tubs to put my growing collection of toys. After spending all that energy on shopping, Mommy and I refueled at the IKEA Restaurant. We split an order of chicken marsala and a fresh fruit cup. Yummy!

When Daddy got home, he was so excited to put together the chairs and table for me. But Daddy couldn't figure out how to put the legs on the table, so I had to help him by reading the instructions.

After we were done putting it together, Mommy gave me some markers and paper. Daddy supervised me while I made some drawings. You see, after all these trips visit museums, I'm inspired to make some works of art myself.

In fact, on Saturday's visit to the Museum of Science I made a leaf at the Discovery Center using some markers, water, and filter paper.

Museum of Science

Today we went to yet another museum, the Museum of Science. We went on the train into the city. I fell asleep on the way there, but when I woke up we were inside the museum!

The first thing we went to see was the butterfly room. There were lots of cool butterflies, but it was sooo hot in there. I mean, we keep our house hot, but it was steamy like in the bathroom after daddy's taken a shower!

A little boy took me and mommy around and showed us all the butterflies. He was so cool, and because his dad works at the museum, he knew all the people there. He even offered to take us on a tour of the rest of the museum, but we went on our own because I wanted to take my time.


A butterfly was poking its nose into these flowers, looking for a drink. Mommy says its nose is called a proboscis.

Then we wandered around the exhibits and saw these chicks being hatched out of eggs! That was cool too. The one that had just come out didn't look too good, but then again, neither did I when I first came out.

All those chicken and eggs made me hungry so we went for lunch after that. I had chicken fingers.

Then it was on to the Discovery Center, which is basically just a play room for kids like me. I had a lot of fun there!

I got to make a roller-coaster out of pipes. I even tried to go through the roller coaster myself, but I couldn't fit.

We had to go home after that, but I had so much fun, and we didn't even get to see half of it! I hope we get to go back soon!

Put on My Socks

Even though it's cold outside (5 degrees this morning), it's always warm up in my room. So when daddy changes my diaper, I don't like having to put my pants back on. I will try to put my socks back on if they come off though.

Since it's gotten cold again, mommy made me and daddy hats that cover our ears. It's important to have warm ears, even though daddy says we look like we're about to go play water polo!

Providence Children's Museum

This Sunday we went to another Children's Museum. This one is in Providence, which is like a suburb of Boston, only it's in another state. I fell asleep in the car, and I woke up just as we were pulling into the parking lot. This is what I saw:

They had a big mess of rocks on the floor, so I helped them clean up by loading some up into this dump truck

They also had this little grocery store that was my size! Here I am, picking out a green bell pepper.

And of course they had some water tables for us to play with. This one is a kind of water roller coaster. In this photo, you can see my new "unsupported standing" kung fu technique.

We're still working on syncing my actual walking with taking movies on the camera, but just so you know, I can walk almost 6 steps now without having to sit down!

My hair is getting pretty long again, so to keep it out of my eyes, mommy made me this hairstyle. In Thai, it's called juk, like this boy's hair.

It's Snowen!

On Monday morning it snowed again! This is what it looked like in our front yard.

The snowflakes had fallen on the tree branches and made them look like flowers.

Since daddy had Monday afternoon off, we all got to play in the snow. We made this little snowman and then we had a snowball fight. I laughed and laughed! I thought it was really funny!

It was hard to move around even though the snow was so light and fluffy. I crawled around but then I would have to lay on my back to rest. Daddy called this making snow angels.

We got cold after that so we went inside, but it was a fun time out in the snow! I hope it snows every week!

ICA

On Saturday we went to the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston for their Family Day. All families with kids got in for free! I think mommy and daddy just wanted me to go so they could get in without paying.

It was a cold day on the waterfront, but it was nice and toasty inside the museum. The first thing we did was go to a special dance show by some people called STREB: Extreme Action. They were really cool! They had some bouncy rubber band things that they bounced up and down on and then they brought out a huge half cylinder that they rocked back and forth and climbed all over. I stood on mommy's lap and took it all in. It looked like so much fun!

After the show it was time for lunch. We ate in the lobby in the shadow of this giant mural.

Then we went to tour the galleries. Everything was really neat, but I especially liked when the docent told me that I was the cutest baby there. I also liked the harbor view from the fourth story window.
