Daddy run faster!

On Sunday, I woke up to Daddy shivering and curled up on a tiny sliver of our bed. Lucky I had all the blankets so I was nice and warm.

When we went to the race I found out why Daddy was shivering... It was really cold outside!

The road race is so fascinating
I did not find the road race very interesting

Sprinting so slow...
Here's daddy at the finish. I was still sleeping.

All done
All done!

Daddy complained that the course was more like 6.4 miles rather than 6.2 miles, or 10K. I think he's just trying to make an excuse for his time.

Afterwards I got a banana and another medal.

Enjoying my finishing banana and medal
Just like daddy's medal! And I didn't have to run a step!

Saturday on the Cape

Last weekend we went down to Cape Cod for a little February holiday. Daddy was running in a race on Sunday, so we got to explore on Saturday.

The first stop was the Zooquarium. This is a little aquarium and a little zoo with all kinds of neat critters to see.

Some of the outside animals had moved inside for the winter. It was cold inside too.

It had snowed a couple of days before and the ground outside was all slushy. I couldn't go down because I was wearing my running shoes, so daddy just carried me around.

Mommy's favorite sheep
Icelandic sheep. Not mommy's favorite--I don't think she liked how they were looking at her.

They had little food dispensers where you could buy dried corn to feed the animals. Because it was pretty quiet, the animals would come over when you stood by the food dispensers. Very convenient!

Back at the hotel, I got to go swimming in the indoor pool. Even though I didn't like the water so much and clung tightly to mommy, I have been talking about it all week. This is because I saw a boy wearing a mask at the pool. Did I mention I like people wearing diving masks?

That night we went to a dinner at another hotel that was hosted by Daddy's race. We got to see Mr. Rodgers the runner and heard a really cool talk by a man named Dick Hoyt, whose son makes him push him in a wheelchair around in races. Mommy and daddy really liked his talk.

My medal, like in George and the Rocket
I also got a medal, like in George Rocket. I am the first space monkey!

On Saturday night I even got a special treat. Even though mommy and daddy had asked the hotel for a crib for me, the hotel hadn't put it in our room when we got there. So while I was playing in the bed, daddy asked me if I wanted to sleep in his bed. Of course, I said, "Yessss." When we got back to the hotel after dinner, the crib had magically appeared. But since daddy had promised we could sleep in the same bed, I got my wish. Yay big boys bed!

Potpourri post

It's been a little of this and a little of that this week, so there really wasn't all that much to write about. Here are some of the odds and ends that I did this week.

I am still really into scuba divers. Here, I made daddy put a mask, helmet, tank, and fins on my Play-doh doggy.

Ready to go find Nemo!

Mommy's getting bigger and bigger. We found out that the baby is still heads up, like I was. That means that the baby is going to come out like me too! Mommy said she's not going to do the stinky herb this time.

Come out, baby, come out
Me saying, "Come out, baby, come out!" Daddy didn't think that was funny.

Because spring is coming, I'm starting to get ready with my sunglasses, a.k.a. "Owen's mask."

Posing with ukelele and new sunglasses
Rock on!

As I am quickly becoming a lefty in everything, I am also more comfortable playing the ukulele lefty too. Daddy says I am in good company with many famous lefty guitar big ukulele players.

Today it snowed. A lot. It's still snowing, in fact. A lot. So we went out this afternoon to wander around in the snow.

Exploring in the corner
I explored myself into the corner

It wasn't good snowball weather or snowman making weather. But it was good weather for plunging around and uncovering branches buried in the six inch deep snow.

Have a fun weekend!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I woke up bright and early this morning. Daddy was up cleaning the house so I got myself out of bed and turned on the light. That didn't get his attention, so I banged the door until he came upstairs and got me. It was almost 6, after all...

The weather was nicer this year than last year. After lunch at Ula's I got to play outside.

Big Surprise Visit

Last weekend we had a surprise visitor, Uncle Travis. It was a big surprise because he just found out he was flying into town on Saturday. And it turned out that he actually flew the airplane into town. Uncle Travis is a airplane pilot now! Flying people around the country! On very short notice!

It's been a long time since we last saw Uncle Travis. The last time we saw him, I looked like this.

We went out to dim sum and then he came over for dinner. Uncle Travis rode the subway by himself for the first time ever to come see me! It was great to see him again, and hopefully he can come back again soon to visit now that he can just fly here.

A Visit from Flat Stanley

The mailman delivered a letter from my cousin Sydney yesterday. Inside was Flat Stanley! He's here for a visit with us. We're also supposed to write about his adventure with us before sending him back to Sydney.

With Valentine's Day coming up, mommy and I made heart-shaped cookies this afternoon. It's mommy's first time making sugar cookies, so it took us a while to get the hang of things like how to roll out the dough and cutting out the shapes.

Flat Stanley helped Mommy make Valentine cookies

While we were waiting for the cookies to cool, I decided to draw some pictures to send back to Sydney with Flat Stanley.

"Mask" is what the scuba diver wears when he catches Nemo. Mommy thinks that the "little mask" looks more like Pigasso from my "Mootisse Pigasso" book that Grandma sent me. I had fun with Flat Stanley, and I hope he makes it back to Sydney safe and sound.

Update on my Big Boy Bed

It's been over 2 weeks since I've slept in my big boy bed. And here's proof - I got a sticker for each night I slept in my bed!

See how many stickers I have on the wall?

Mommy and daddy said they are so proud of me. I haven't fallen off the bed once! I even put myself down for a nap yesterday. Mommy was so tired, she let me play in my room with the gate up while she went to lay down next door. Next thing she knew, I climbed into bed and went to sleep. I even made sure to tuck myself under the covers too. I guess I'm training to be more independent before my baby sister arrives.

Pre-Valentine's Day

On Saturday daddy took me to the Museum of Science again so mommy could get her hair cut. It was pretty empty when we first got there.

Then it was on to the water table. That's where all the kids were!

We don't stop here unless we have half an hour to play...

Next time, we need to go get a haircut and mommy can come to the museum.

After nap, it was time for the MOMS Club Valentine's Day party.

There was music...

And dancing...

And lots of coloring!

Kung Hee Fat Choy!

Yes, I know Chinese New Years was 3 days ago. We celebrated it with Chinese food at Jumbo, in Newton. We had to wait a long time to sit down, so I was really hungry when we started eating.

Even this looked good to me!

Super Bowl Sunday

Daddy had to work all weekend, so on Super Bowl Sunday, mommy and I went to hang out at the playspace in the mall before having lunch with my buddies, Ellie and Leo. For the occasion, daddy dressed me in my swanky Tom Brady jersey that Uncle Dan and Aunty Linda gave me. At the playspace, we saw at least 3 other kids with the same jersey and one with a Tedy Bruschi jersey.

At Playspace
All geared up for the Super Bowl.

After lunch and nap, mommy and I went to pick daddy up from work so we could go watch the big game at Emerson's house.

We had to leave after halftime since it was my bedtime, but I have fun watching the guitar man before we left. Daddy stayed up to listen to the rest of the game on the radio, 1950s style. He was happy that his team won but sad that everyone at work was going to be gloomy!

Getting ready for baby sister

Mommy's been busy over the last month getting the house ready for my baby sister's arrival. She said I could be a big brother as early as the end of the month! Here are some of the things she made for my baby sister.
