Full Moon, Dragon Boats, Patriots Place, and the Revolutions

Last Sunday we had a many adventure day... After brunch at the fun restaurant where they have a play space (as opposed to a Playland or Playplace), we went down to Harvard to see the Dragon Boat racing.

This year we didn't watch so much dragons or boats as we did yo yos.


These kids were way better than the guys we saw at the street performer festival. But they weren't better than these guys who we didn't see at the street performer festival.


We watched a little of the racing after the yo yos. Here's Owen staying safe from the sun with Aki's hat.

Since there wasn't too much more to see after that, we left. We drove to see a soccer team play and while we were waiting for the game to start, we went down to a big store called Bass Pro Shops. It was super cool inside.


They had a giant cave with a pool

And they had all kinds of things to ride on!

Bass Pro Shops is super fun! But then it was time to go to the soccer game.

Wait a minute, I've seen that fox somewhere before...


The team was playing the New York Red Bulls. As this parachute guy came down, people were upset that he was a Red Bulls parachute guy.

Then the game started. It was very exciting!

Right after this, we sent daddy to get more popcorn for me, and while he was gone, the good guys scored a goal.

It was okay though. In the second half, the good guys scored another goal, and it was right in front of us!

Since it was 2-0 and it was getting late, we decided to head off for the exits. Of course, by the time we actually left, the good guys scored 2 more goals that would have been right in front of us if we'd stayed. Oh well, it was definitely time to go.


Here we are, walking back to the car after a fun filled day. This picture is for Kung Kung. That's an elevated water tank that might or might not contain treated reclaimed wastewater from the stadium. I'm not so sure.

What a great day we had! I hope we will get to go back to try some more cars and boats and see some more soccer!

Saturday in town

Last weekend we went into town to the See New England Festival. It's all about New England travel and businesses, but we went for the music and free foods.

Aki liked the giveaways too. Here she is enjoying some Cape Cod potato chips. She usually doesn't get the whole bag, so here she is figuring it out:

Actually this girl didn't have too much sense of "personal space." Here she is stroking Aki's cheek.


Then she lifted Aki up and offered her to this giant fox. Aki was ok with it.

After the concert, our ears were ringing so we went to the big Boston Common park to rest. Aki napped and I went into the playground.

They have a merry-go-round too! I wanted to ride the chicken but I was too late.


After a stroll through the Public Garden, it was time to go home.

Being outside on Boston summer weekends are so much more fun than in the winter!

Back to Acton

Ok, we've got some more catching up to do here...

At the end of May, we went to Earthfest, which was basically a free snack give away day and musical concert. We were at the Esplanade, and enjoyed all kinds of musics sitting on the grass.


Mommy got a chef hat. Aki drank her milk and listened to the music.

The next day we went back to Acton to visit the Discovery Museums. Since the weather's been nice, they put in a new outside area for us to play in.


It's boat themed! I'm making sure to stay safe since I don't really know how to swim yet.

Some other random things we've been up to:

Ok, hope you're having a wonderful summer!

Stone Zoo

Ok, we are catching up! Two weekends ago (ha, maybe not catching up so fast), we went to a new zoo, the Stone Zoo. Daddy took me and Aki so that mommy could do some packing. As you might know, we're moving to Hawaii at the end of the month. Or maybe you don't know? Ok, I tell you now. It's no secret. We're moving. Yay! We even got a zoo pass to the Honolulu Zoo from our friends from my old school. That pass is how we got into the Stone Zoo. So here is some of what we saw with daddy.

All that pacing made me and Aki tired. We had to take a break to dig for some dino bones.

Later, there was a big bird show we wanted to go see.

On the way we saw this not-so-big owl. Isn't it cute? It's a screech owl.

So on to the show... We saw lots of big birds there.

This one was Aki's favorite, the macaw.

This lady was really good with the birds. This one looked like Owly. Only it can fly. Owly can't fly.

The Stone Zoo also has a train ride. I even got to drive the train around the train yard!

Then I got to go on a helicopter ride. This one was not as cool.

After lunch we saw some flamingos. They had eggs!

We got to ride on the covered wagon.

And see this napping jaguar.

And after that, it was time for our naps too, so we left without seeing everything. Mommy, maybe next time you can take us and Daddy can stay home and pack? Or maybe, daddy should just take us again.

Street Performer Festival

The day after the boat race we went back into the city again, but this time for a street performer festival. I don't know what a street performer is, so first we went to the aquarium.

After a short aquarium visit, we went outside to watch the street performers.

Then this construction worker came out.

He kept saying "Look over here!"

He did lots of things, but mostly it was kind of the same thing, only with a plunger, a cone and a big wrench

Then it was time for something different. This man made his friends tie him up and hang him upside down like Stellaluna.

Aki was less than impressed

We had a fun time at the festival, but I thought we were going to see some animals or music or something. Maybe next weekend daddy?

Volvo Ocean Race

A little while ago we went to one of my favorite museums, but we didn't go inside it. Instead, we went to the waterfront to see something totally different. A big boat race!

It's called the Volvo Ocean Race , and these big boats have been sailing around the world. Boston was the only place they stopped in America.

We didn't get to test drive this one, but it was really neat. A big big Lego truck!

Later when we were done test driving the Volvos, we went to see some of the race action.

Then we went shopping at the Puma store that was made out of shipping containers.

The race started. And then the boats had to come back because they were just kidding about the start. Then one boat got cut off by a big tanker, but that was too bad for that boat.


Finally we had a nice dinner at home with Karna and Arne, Carl, Joy, Axel and a tub of little Legos.

What a fun day at the waterfront, not going to our usual museum! Later I found out that the boats sailed all the way to Ireland in only one week. How amazing is that?
