Cornucopia of Updates

Has it been another week already? Ok, here is some catching up from the last week...

Daddy went for another race, and this time we had our own party afterwards...

I had a cupcake

Last week was fun. This week has been fun too, but I'm tired now. More tomorrow.

Last Day in SFO

Memorial Day was our last day in the SFO. After wandering around Chinatown searching for a place that was open for breakfast, we made our way back down to the Ferry Building and had tasty breads from one of the long line places at the Farmer's Market on Saturday. Afterwards mommy and Aki went back to the hotel to pack while the boys played some more.

We walked over to see the big fountain. You can walk all around it, through it, and on top of it!

Sitting on the Vaillancourt Fountain
I liked the stairs because they were just grates and it looks like you're walking on air

We were going to walk back to the hotel, but then the cable car was right there. What's a trip to San Francisco without riding on one of these open air, no car seat, no seat belt trains?

On the cable car, California line
Waiting for the cable car to take us back to the hotel

After cable car we went on BART to the airport and then on airplane to Boston. We had such a fun time in San Francisco, and we got to do a lot in just a few days! Chinatown, fun at the Exploratorium, seeing and meeting lots of friends, and taking lots of buses and trains. I hope we get to go back again soon! Bye SFO!

Sunday Morning Coming Down

I slept in on Sunday. I had a lot of partying the night before. Sunday morning we caught the bus over to the Golden Gate Park to meet my cousin Taylor at the Conservatory of Flowers.

Where the flowers?
When we got there, the flowers were not too impressive

Taylor and I played in the best playground ever, but daddy was too busy to take pictures.

After playing, we walked over to dim sum with Aunty Thida and Uncle Matt.

After dim sum came walking time. Baby Emma likes to be walked to sleep. I fell asleep too! We stopped in the arboretum in the Golden Gate Park to sleep. It was a beautiful place for a nap.

Pretty soon we both woke up so it was on for more eating.

Peasant Pies
We had some sweet and savory pies here. I had a yummy blueberry pear pie!

That evening we met up to eat with Baby Emma and her parents again, this time for crabby! All the grownups, even daddy, loved it! I had a lot too. If you ask me about it now, I still remember how good it was!

We had a great Sunday, full of food and park time. My kind of day!

Sabado en San Francisco

Saturday was a big big day. It was Aunty Thida's wedding but that wasn't until later. I got up early again, although not quite as early as yesterday.

Because it was Saturday everything was closed except McDonalds, where we ate breakfast. Then we got to the Ferry Building Farmer's Market. McDonalds turned out to be a big mistake.

Because they had lobstahs!

And other shockingly beautiful fruits and veggies

We could have eaten breakfast at the food stalls too! Too bad. In any case, we had lots of peaches and plums and all kinds of samples and bought some fruit and cheese for later.

Watching the drummer
When we left there was a fun drummer outside

F line
Then we took this trolley to the sea lion pier

Sea lions barking
They were really noisy. I told daddy they were saying, "I want to eat food!"

In the tunnel
Later we went to the aquarium. Not as fun as my one in Boston, but they had this neat tunnel.

Another diver
We had to stay and see my favorite part of the aquarium, the mask diver

After napping on the walk back to the hotel, it was time for the wedding!

Another day, another fun fun time!

Chinatown and the Exploratorium

On Friday I woke up early. Not quite as early as in Hawaii, but let's just say early.

Street view
So early, walking around Chinatown looked like this

Kite shop
So early, the kite shop wasn't open yet

Sliding down the slide in Portsmouth Square
So early, I had the playground all to myself

Except that there were dozens of old Chinese people doing their exercises there. When Aki pooped out of her diaper onto daddy and the ground, they gathered around us, talking in Chinese, laughing and pointing. Ok, so I didn't wake up early enough to avoid that.

Still Chinatown was really cool...

Signs in the window of Chinese labor agency
Chinese job board. Anyone want to work for a Chinese restaurant in Orlando, Florida? Room and board included!

We went to the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory. It was already open, churning out the fortune cookies. They were yummy! This lady gave them to us hot off the press!

The folder
She was actually very friendly, although those things are probably really hot

It's small inside
It was a small place

After we got back, Aunty Melissa met up with us and we caught the bus across town to the Exploratorium. This is like the Museum of Science, only way cooler. Actually it's much more like the Discovery Museum, only bigger.

After not getting any gelato because I fell asleep, we caught the bus back across town. Mommy almost had a stroke getting the stroller off the bus in Chinatown. Apparently people in San Francisco use whatever door they want to get on the bus, but especially the nice, big and free back door. And when there are dozens of Chinese people waiting to get on the bus, they don't wait for big strollers to get off. We'll just leave it at that.

At Union Square we saw a dance group called the AscenDance Project.

Jungle gym looks like fun
This "jungle gym" looks fun! How come there are no jungle gyms in Boston?

More AscenDance
Then they started climbing up these walls with just their hands and feet!

I am entranced
I was enthralled

Day 2, another day of fun! I could get used to this!

San Francisco Here We Come!

Not long after the aunties left, we followed Aunty Melissa back to San Francisco. I enjoyed my flight, as I got to kick the seat in front of me (where Aki sat) as much as I liked and I also watched Finding Nemo and the musical pieces from Sound of Music. Daddy, what does "Auf Wiedersehen" mean?

When we got in, it was still daytime so we went for a little exploration. We found a place where they were selling fruits, my favorite!

These smell good
These look good. I will take all of them.

Long line at sogreen
Despite all of that beautiful fruit, the silly San Franciscans were lined up for yogurt at this SoGreen joint

Me and Julius
We found a big monkey

Akiko's Restaurant & Sushi Bar
And Aki's restaurant, which we sadly did not get to come to, as I'm sure Aki would have eaten for free

Aunty Karna met up with us after work and took us to eat yummy Chinese food.

When we walked back to the hotel, Aunty Karna taught us a new game. It's called, 123 Jump! And you can choose whether you want to jump far or jump high. I like jump high because Aunty Karna is over 6 feet tall.

Jumping far with Karna and daddy
Here's jumping far. Aunty Karna also has a quick first step. Daddy does not.

So half a day in San Francisco, fun so far!
