Booster seat

Lately I've gotten to eat at the table. This is me with my dishes, only mommy and daddy don't let me use them for eating. I'm not sure why they still want to feed me. I can do it myself!

Please, can I have something in my bowl?
Fill 'er up!

My bowl is falling down
I also have a rice paddle

This week mommy also made some yummy Mexican food. We had tortillas, which it turns out I love!

Mmm... tortillas
Who knew they had tortillas in Massachusetts?

I want some more tortillas
What happened to my tortilla?

St. Anthony's Feast

This weekend we went to St. Anthony's Feast in the North End. Mommy says St. Anthony is a patron saint for a group of Italian people who came to the US from one place in Italy. Every year they have a celebration for their special saint. There were lots of people, food, and games. Again, I just got to look, but I think I'm going to get to eat some big people food pretty soon here.

St. Anthony's Feast
Clipping dollar bills to St. Anthony. Mommy said they do this at the Buddhist temple in Rowland Heights too, except there's no St. Anthony there.

After walking around, Mommy and Daddy bought some food, and we sat down on somebody's doorstep. My parents were little piggies! They had a fried rice ball, a sandwich, and a calzone! I had lunch too (sweet potatoes, bleh). I was much more interested in what they were eating.

I want that!
I want that one.

Afterwards, we walked around the North End to Hanover St. since Mommy wanted cannoli from Mike's Pastry for dessert. When we got there, the place was so packed there was no room for me and the stroller. So Daddy was on duty to get the cannoli. Alas, none for me (again!). They do eat too much, don't they? Good thing they're exercising more now.

Rolly-polly under the crib

Now that I'm mobile, I can explore my room a bit. After rolling to the wall and tugging on that black stringy wiry thing, I rolled myself under the crib. It's neat under there! There's all this space, and I found my turtle, which was my first toy ever. I like it when daddy watches me instead of mommy. I can go anywhere I want!

Overalls

A package came in the mail yesterday from a William Zane. I don't know any William Zane, but I had mommy open the package for me just in case it was dangerous.

It turned out that it was from Uncle Billy doing a favor for Aunty Kathy and Aunty Leng. The package had overalls and a hat in it. They're too big on me for now, but maybe I'll grow into them.

If you other people want to send me clothes too, I will model them on my blog for you to see. I wear a size 6-9 or 6-12 months. Just kidding. I have lots of clothes to wear. For now... :)

Boston Sabado

Sorry it's been a while since I last posted. I haven't been feeling so good. Something about a fever and funny red spots on my skin. Daddy says I should feel better in a few days. Anyway, I was feeling better on Saturday so we went into Boston to enjoy our nice weather.

Boston Public Library courtyard
This is the courtyard of the Boston Public Library. Daddy was really excited about their exhibit with lots of old maps.

Mommy and me in the courtyard
Mommy and I had some lunch while daddy went to look at the maps.

Lunch at Copley Square
Here I am eating my lunch in Copley Square. That's the library in the background.

Asleep. Nobody gets my carrot stick.
After lunch it was time for a nap. I'm protecting my carrot stick for later. I saw daddy eyeing it.

The last time anybody saw my carrot stick
This is the last picture I saw of my carrot stick. Daddy, do you know where it went?

Swan Boats
Later we went to walk around the Public Gardens again. The famous swan boats were out on the water, but I was asleep so mommy and daddy just walked by the ticket booth.

Long line and strollers
Looks like lots of people wanted a ride. Maybe next time, daddy?

Wrentham, Elephant Walk, and Super Veggies

This weekend mommy and daddy took me shopping at a big place called the Wrentham Outlets. Daddy said it was tax free weekend in Massachusetts so we got to skip the 5% sales tax, whatever that means. In any case I got some new stuff. Thanks, mommy and daddy!

One of the places we went into the KB Toys Outlet. At first mommy and daddy showed me these toys that they claimed were for 6 months and up, but I didn't like them. Too many flashing lights and sounds. Please... I have more refined tastes. Mommy and daddy found some age appropriate toys that they remembered from when they were little, so I got these and a new rattle. My old ones were getting worn out anyway.

More new toys
Who needs flashing lights? Stacky rings and snappy beads are fun!

The next day we went to lunch at a place called the Elephant Walk. There were lots of pictures and tiny toy elephants all over the restaurant, but no real ones. But I was okay with that because mommy and daddy gave me lunch while they were waiting for theirs.

Elephant Walk!
Is it time to eat yet?

Can you see my teeth?
Here's my "teeth" but they're just barely coming out of my gums so they're real tiny. If you click on the picture, you might be able to see them.

Eating my toy leash
Here I'm "flossing" my teeth with my toy leash. Actually, I'm just moistening it carefully from one end to the other so when mommy picks me up, she'll have a fun surprise.

After lunch we went shopping for some more food. I don't know why the grownups wanted more food. They had just stuffed themselves. We went back to the place called Super 88. It's an Asian market that has all the stuff from back in LA, according to mommy. I enjoyed myself looking at some super-size veggies.

Giant bell pepper!
Is this a really small watermelon? Or a really big pepper?

Giant Yam!
Mmmm! Mommy buy this one to make me sweet potatoes!

More New Things

This past week I've been trying out a bunch of new things:

I now fit into Uncle JT's shirt. Here I am with my Exersaucer and caterpillar link. My favorite thing to do with this link is to bang it on the Exersaucer and then throw it on the ground.

Uncle JT's shirt
Where should I throw this?

I've also been practicing my standing. I can do about ten seconds now without falling down. That is, if my arms and stomach are propped up against the back of the sofa and daddy is watching my butt.

Standing?
Daddy, you're covering up my bear!

Also, I've learned how to drink from a sippy cup. Since I won the bottle game (here and here) with daddy, I haven't had any liquids to drink except directly from mommy. This week I drank a whole ounce of cold water from the cup. It felt nice on my aching gums.

Sippy cup
I know how to hold the sippy cup too!

My hat

Me and daddy were playing with my soft nesting block set on the floor the other day, when he decided that Number 5 would fit on my head. So this is me and my new hat. Silly daddy, everyone knows that Ichiro is Number 51.

Eric Carle

On Sunday we went to the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. We went because my favorite author and artist, Eric Carle, was going to be there signing his books.

You might ask, "Who is Eric Carle?" He's the guy who wrote A Very Hungry Caterpillar, and illustrated my favorite book, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? When mommy and daddy reads this book to me, they say, "Roar, I see Baby Owen looking at me!" and I have to smile.

Thai Hungry Caterpillar
At the museum bookstore, mommy was excited to find a version of Very Hungry Caterpillar in Thai: Nhon Jom Hew. Only 215 baht (less than $6)! We'll have to get one when we go to Thailand someday.

Long line
There was a long line to meet Mr. Carle

Main Hall of the Eric Carle museum
These murals in the wall are like the papers that Mr. Carle uses to make his illustrations. He paints on tissue paper, cuts out shapes, and arranges them to make pictures.

Waiting in Line for Eric Carle
After two hours, we're almost to the front of the line

I got so excited, I fainted fell asleep. Here is mommy and me with Mr. Carle, who's signing my copy of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

My Toot

So the latest news is that I have something hard growing out of my lower gum. I thought it was something stuck there, but it turns out that it's something called a tooth! Mommy and daddy said there are lots more of these to come, so I've got to practice with it.

I've been practicing on lots of things... mommy's finger, daddy's shirt, smushed up food, seahorse... Got to get ready for that Thanksgiving turkey!

What this?
Mommy offered me some cantaloupe (which she chewed up a little first)

Put inside my mouth
It's easier when she puts it into my mouth

Sydney's letter

Last week, my cousin Sydney, who is 5 years old, wanted our address from Grandma. She wanted to send us a letter! Grandma sent her on to Aunty Ying, who helped her write out the envelope. Here is what she sent us. I am so impressed with how well she writes. She even addressed the envelope. Check out the return address! I hope I can write as well as she can when I am 5.

Greek food and Ronak

On Sunday we went out for Greek food at a restaurant in Cambridge. I know now what the grownups do at these "restaurants" and I am becoming very interested when they are eating. I was reaching for the food so much that mommy and daddy gave me tiny little bits of the pita bread to gum on.

Greek Corner
Is this the menu? What shall I have?

That night we went out to celebrate Uncle Sameer's birthday. We went to the Charles River Esplanade with his family. I met another new baby, Baby Ronak.

It was after my usual bedtime, so when I woke up and we were still out, I was very surprised. Still, I loved the view, and everyone was so nice that I stayed up socializing until 9! I fell asleep as soon as we got back in the car, and I overslept the next morning. I didn't wake up until 6:00 AM!
