More celebrations

So... the Red Sox won on daddy's birthday. (editor's note: We saw Curt Schilling pitch, Big Papi hit a home run, our former Dodger Gagne pitched, Jonathan Papelbon saved the game with one pitch, and Kurt Suzuki, pride of Hawaii, went 1 for 3 with an RBI. Thanks, Nick!)

Then the next day we went out to eat at our favorite restaurant, Dok Bua.

They brought out a big birthday cake for daddy. He blew out all the candles this year, unlike last year when he only blew out half and they kept lighting over and over again.


When they lit the lotus flower in the middle, it blew up!

Also I had to say bye bye to Aunty Karna for a while, since she is off on another journey. This one isn't ending back in Brookline though. She's moving back to California. Good luck Aunty Karna!

Big Maine Post

Last weekend, for Daddy's birthday, we went on a trip to Maine. Come to think of it, that sounds kind of familiar...

First stop, LL Bean. Mommy bought me some new winter shoes.

Then we went to the hotel. When we opened the window, guess what? A-pay! We were right outside the airport! I got to watch airplanes take off all weekend!

After checking out the airplanes, it was time for grownups to start with the eating of these big red crabbies they call "lobstah".

The next day we drove further up the coast and went for a walk in another park. This one was supposed to have quite a view of the coast.

Well we got to walk anyway, and mommy let me "hike" by myself! It wasn't so much fun for her later when I decided I'd rather play in the mud, but hey, if you're going to let me explore...

On this trip, I learned I like chowder.

Driving back down the coast we went to an aquarium where you could touch the fishies. In theory.

They also had a big half-blue half-red lobstah too. It wasn't half cooked. Daddy said it was born like that.

On our last day we went out to see a lighthouse, like in my Lighthouses book that grandma got me.

I tried to ring the bell to warn the ships of the dangerous rocks, but it didn't make much noise.

Then we went to the train museum! Actually, these were "trolleys" which are like trains but don't have engines. Daddy says he gets to ride one every day but he was still into the trolleys.

First stop was the fields, where the grownups made all the kids work picking pumpkins while they sat around and drank cider.

Then we rode around the countryside in the train until we got back to the start.

I got to wear an engineer hat and drive a trolley.

Finally it was time for one last lobstah. I got the claw and then Ah Gu gave me some of the meat from inside the body.

Daddy ate so much lobstah I think he might have turned into one.



It was a fun fun trip. Hopefully we get to go back next year!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

I love you daddy. Thanks for always waking up early to play and read with me before going to work. And for teaching me about colors and ABCs. I also like you helping me with my construction projects to build planes and boats. I can't wait to go to the Red Sox game later today to celebrate your birthday!

Showing Ah Gu around town

Ah Gu arrived last Wednesday, but he was so jet-lagged that we didn't do much that day. He did let me play with his new phone though.

On Thursday, mommy and I took him to show the sights around Boston. We started out in Copley Square so Ah Gu can admire the cool architecture of the Boston Public Library and the Trinity Church. Then we walked to the Public Garden and Boston Common where the adults let me roam around at the Tadpole Playground for a bit.

After running around, I was tired so I went to sleep. As I napped, mommy and Ah Gu walked along the Freedom Trail visiting graveyards, the site of the first public school, Faneuil Hall, and the Holocaust Memorial. Daddy got off work early and met us for lunch at the North End. Then we walked across a bridge to Charlestown to check out the USS Constitution. It was a BIG boat!

It was a warm day out and the adults were too tired to walk back across the bridge. So we decided to take a boat across the river. It was so much fun!

I'm having so much fun with Ah Gu. I got lots more to fill you in about but it's ne ne time (sleepy time) now. Check me out tomorrow!

Ah Gu is here! We've gone up to Maine for the weekend, so there won't be much posting for a little while. When we get back, I promise to be very hard working and post lots of pictures. In the meantime, use your imagination to picture mommy and daddy eating lobstahs and Ah Gu eating the brainsies.

A-pane

I'm branching out from markers and crayons! Here's my first sculpture in Mega Blox. I call it "A-pane" (airplane). Since this first one, I have also done "Bup" (bus), "Choo" (train) and "Boap" (boat). Daddy says they all look about the same, but what does he know about true art?

Reunited with friends

Last week, Emerson and her mommy invited us over to their new house to play. It was a beautiful afternoon outside, so we just hung out in the backyard after we had a grand tour of the house. Emerson has a cool cottage and a slide in the backyard!

On Sunday, I took Ronak, Aunty Sarita, and Aunty Ektaa to Lookout Farm to pick some fruits. Ronak and I had lots of fun running around at the farm and eating yummy fruits.

After some fruits in our tummies, we ran off to the playground while our parents struggled to keep up with us.

Pau Hawaii

No trip to Hawaii would be complete without a trip to the beach! We went on Friday two weeks ago, and mommy and daddy are still peeling their skin off. I don't have any skin coming off though, thanks to my hat, shirt, and excessive amounts of some white stuff they rubbed into my skin. Uncle JT and his friend Aunty Lynne came to hang out with us and brought us yummy lunch.

The next day we went to the Okinawan Festival at Kapiolani Park. It was hot, but at least I got to sit in the shade in my chariot. Some of daddy's Okinawan friends from high school met up with us. Uncle Jess, who's not Okinawan (and didn't go to high school with daddy) also came. Did I mention it was hot?

That night Uncle JT's family fed us dinner. His mom brought out buckets and buckets of cars (!) from when he was a kid. I turned them out on the carpet and went through them all! Dinner was yum. The one funny thing was they kept saying this word I don't know: "Poo na ho." What's that? It doesn't sound good to me...

On our last full day in Hawaii, we went to see dolphins at the Sea Life Park by daddy's house (or as I say, "dolffff").
